Why does the T-fal Optigrill GC702 automatically switch back to the manual mode upon start? How can the manual mode be deactivated again?
Manufacturer: T-fal
|
CAUTION: Electrical Device. Read the safety instructions!
Information
In case the T-fal Optigrill switches automatically to the manual mode though it has not been selected, it’s very likely that the device is not calibrated. The sensors are unable to detect the food.
Alternatively, it’s also possible that a small metal device below the heating plate got jammed. This can be easily repaired with a tong. Check the video at the end of the instruction.
Step 1
Turn off the T-fal grill and unplug the power cable. Let the device / heating plates cool down.
Step 2
Make sure that the heating plates are properly inserted. Plug the power cable back in but DO NOT turn the device on by pressing the power button.
Step 3
Press and hold the following three buttons for roughly 3 seconds simultaneously: Burger + Fish + Manual. The Steak light flashes 3 times. Then the Steak light stays on.
Step 4
Open the lid and place a small spacer on the heating plate. It shall not be thicker than 1 – 1/2 inch, max 2 inch. Since the heating plates are not heated, you can use a spacer made out of plastic.
Step 5
Close the lid and press the Steak button again. The Steak light will flash 3 more times. Open the lid and remove the spacer. Close the lid.
Step 6
Unplug the power cable and wait for approx 1 minute. Then plug the cable back in and turn on the device by pressing the power button. – Make sure that you have removed the spacer form the plate beforehand!
Step 7 (optional)
In case the above steps were not successful, it’s also possible that the small metal device below the heating plate got jammed. It can be readjusted by pulling it out with a tong. But do not forget to unplug the power cable beforehand! Check the video below for further instructions.
